This is the third of a three-part series (2019-2020) - Land, Water, and Sky. Much of my work is considered pop surrealism and has been done on a much smaller scale. I wanted to challenge myself with larger graphite pieces and explore further into scientific illustration. I was obsessed the moment I discovered that draco lizards existed and weren't a figment of someone's imagination. Outwardly by default, they look like they could be any other lizard, flightless. When threatened, or in need of a quick transfer from tall heights, they spread their wings, which are actually formed by an enlarged set of ribs, and glide - in style, I might add. Each one is so different in design, and this is mine. Its markings represent the night sky here, what you would otherwise see above it, as it glides effortlessly through the forest.
